Sorry for the lack of posting lately. I was in Canada for three weeks... Here's some awesome photos for you to enjoy of some of our Dulce Refugio kids. Photo credits go to my friend, Skip Hiebert!

A New Video about the Kids

Here's a little video about the kids. Enjoy!

My little man, Ricky!
Sarahi seems to love muffins!
Some of the boys hanging out in their house...
From clockwise left to right: Marco, Rafael, Raul, Eduardo and Jose grande

The orphanage...in technicolor yellow! The boys live straight ahead in the little casa behind the vans and the girls live in the large yellow building on the left. You'll notice our vans in the picture as well. The blue one actually has Alberta license plates as a church in Coaldale, Alberta donated that one a number of years ago to our sister orphanage, Pan de Vida, who in turn have donated it to Dulce Refugio.
Brothers! Juan, Christian and Edgar taking a photo break from their chores in the kitchen! Some of the sweetest boys you will ever meet.

Unfortunately blogger won't let me add any more pictures today so I just thought I'd do a little update on kids...

*Yesterday we received a new little girl. She was brought to the orphanage by her grandma. I'm not sure of any other details about her other than little Joseline is almost 3 years old. She is going to be sharing a room with Lolis, Mimi, Sarahi and Manuella.

*Baby Jose has two new teeth this week! That makes four for the little guy. He also had his very first chocolate donut this week and loved it!

* Mimi lost one of her front teeth on Sunday!

*Celia had a baby boy, Daniel Isaac, on Saturday. He is so tiny! Only 4 1/2 pounds of sweet baby goodness! I will try to get pictures soon to post!

*The kids are back at school this week after a two week vacation. The city closes the schools for the first two weeks of the fair.

*On Saturday Dulce Refugio hosted a big fiesta to celebrate the day of the child. We had about 700 kids attend. Jer posted several pictures of this event on his blog...

*My friend (and roommate) Skip has a new blog about life here in Aguascalientes. Make sure you check it out!

I'll try and post more pics and give more of an update tomorrow night before I head back to Canada for a few weeks.

Welcome!

Welcome to the new Dulce Refugio blog! Our friend Jeremy does a great job of updating everybody on things happening with the construction site and when teams are here but we thought we'd give you more of daily life happenings with the kids at Dulce Refugio. And as pictures are worth a thousand words...here's some pictures of the kids!

Ximena and Sarahi swimming in the pool

On Tuesday some of the volunteers took the younger boys to the fair to go on some of the rides... Here's the boys in action with the bumper cars. Luis is in the far left and Adrian and Juan chico are in the front car. They had so much fun!

Luis in action!

The kids were so excited about having hot dogs at the fair! Cesar, Adrian, Juan chico, Rigoberto with Hannah, Luis and Sarah

The older girls threw a baby shower for Celia this week. Celia grew up at Dulce Refugio and is like a big sister to all the girls. The girls planned the entire shower themselves....games, decorations, devotional and gifts. It was so cool to see them use their talents.

Celia opening her gifts...

Here's all those beautiful girls watching some of the games. Great job Alejandra and Juana for planning some very fun games!!
In this picture from left to right: Juana, Malena (behind) Belen, Fani with baby Jose, Mimi, Angela and Lolis

The girls wrote encouragement cards for Celia before the shower.
Here they are in full scrapbook mode...

The youngest child at Dulce Refugio...my little Jose! Here he is trying out his brand new bumbo seat that someone sent from Ontario for him...

Here's Jose doing some of his physiotherapy with Erin and Marion. Marion came all the way from Ontario just to work with Jose and to teach Erin his physiotherapy. She also brought us a lot of cool stuff including that big purple ball and the bumbo seat...

Jose is becoming quite the celebrity! People from all over North America know about Jose and want to hear how he's doing. Marce says that he is an angel sent by God to unite us with people all over the world. We praise God for the life of Jose and the blessing he is to so many!

Here's another picture of Jose in his pool. He just loves to play and splash in the water!

Jose and his best buddy Ricardo hanging out on the couch.
Ricardo loves Jose so much and loves to give him kisses.

Little Ricardo is the second youngest child at Dulce Refugio. He is a sweet, charming little man who is rapidly learning English and Spanish and now sign language.
Here he is hanging out by the pool...
